Today I finished getting my novel down into storyboard form. I had toyed with the idea of breaking it down onto index cards but this appeals to me more, simple as that. (Maybe it’s the frustrated movie director inside me?)
I summarised each scene onto a Post-it note so I can look at the novel on one page, instead of having to leaf through pages and pages of text.
The three green Post-its at the bottom contain a list of characters and the lone one has a list of important objects.
What did I learn from this?
Well, for a novel about two people, I counted nineteen characters – two of which share the same name!
More importantly, I have come across a few inconsistencies about motivation, as well as a character that disappears at the halfway mark.
It’s clear that I have some work to do to iron out these kinks. This might seem to you like a bit of a nightmare but I’m relieved that I’ve gone through this process and now I know exactly what needs to be corrected.
Onwards and upwards!

I love the idea of post-it notes. I'm a bit daunted by editing the huge chunk of text I have – I'll definitely give this a try xx
This isn’t the frustrated movie director… This is the project manager. Scrum much?
